Information About Our Choir Groups, Shirt, and Program
The enrollment in this choir includes freshmen/sophomore treble voices. This is the only choir in which freshmen treble voices should enroll. The curriculum is based on singing two-four part music, including classical, Broadway/pop, folk, etc. The curriculum includes music theory as well as instruction in vocal technique and sight singing. Students will be voice tested as well as receive written tests on music theory.
This choir includes sophomore – senior treble voices and freshmen – senior bass voices This is the only choir in which freshmen bass voices should enroll. The curriculum includes three-four+ part music, including classical, folk, Broadway/pop, with the main emphasis on classical literature. Music theory is included in the curriculum, as well as vocal technique and sight singing. Students will be voice tested as well as receive written tests on music theory.
This ensemble includes sophomore – senior treble voices. Placement in this choir is by audition (in the previous spring). The curriculum includes an ambitious four-six part choral repertoire composed for treble voices. Advanced music theory, vocal technique, and sight singing will be included in the curriculum. Vocal and written tests will be given. Students have the opportunity to participate in the District VII IMEA Auditions.
This mixed voice ensemble includes sophomore – senior members. This is an auditioned group (spring auditions). The curriculum includes the most ambitious music in terms of part singing as well as choral repertoire, which covers all genres. Advanced music theory, vocal technique, and sight singing will be included in the curriculum with testing in these areas. Members of this ensemble may participate in the District 214 Music Festival and are required to participate in the District VII IMEA Auditions. Students are encouraged to participate in the Classical Workshop.
This mixed voice a cappella group focuses on holiday music and is comprised of students who are in Chamber Singers. They will rehearse during the school day during the fall semester only. The singers are costumed in Charles Dickens period-authentic costumes and perform extensively throughout the community during the holiday season. Students in this group must be available for performances on evenings and weekends from Thanksgiving through December.
This group is our competitive mixed-voice show choir and is auditioned in the previous spring. OnStage sings and dances. Enrollment is open to freshmen through seniors. Students meet for rehearsals during zero-hour block every day, on one Monday night per month during the fall semester and two Monday evenings per month from January through March. Competition season runs from January through March. During this time, the group will attend a variety of show choir competitions on designated weekends. There may be additional time commitments asked of the students at the discretion of the director.
Bass voice a cappella ensemble which is auditioned in the spring. They rehearse one/two evening(s) per week. Currently, not a competitive group. This group will perform at school and community events.
This treble voice a cappella ensemble is auditioned in the spring. They rehearse one/two evening(s) per week. Currently, not a competitive group. Heart and Soul will perform at school and community events.
This is a treble voice a cappella ensemble is open to freshmen through seniors and is auditioned in the fall. They rehearse after school one day per week.
Mixed a cappella ensemble (combines Heart and Soul and Commercial Break).
This is an elite group of 6-8 mixed voices, auditioned in the spring, who will perform the most challenging repertoire of a cappella music.
Super Singers is an extracurricular group made up of students of all abilities. They create and experience music, build friendships, and perform popular music.
